Blade Runner Live brings a unique experience to IFEMA MADRID on May 2 and 3: the cult film by Ridley Scott with live music.

Blade Runner, the iconic science fiction film by Ridley Scott, nominated for multiple Academy Awards® and featuring a score by Vangelis, comes to IFEMA MADRID on May 2 and 3, 2026 with Blade Runner Live. The event combines a large-screen projection of the director’s Final Cut with live music performed by The Avex Ensemble, an 11-piece group specializing in electronic film scores, conducted by Pete Billington.
After selling out in Barcelona and establishing itself as one of the season’s standout productions, the Palacio Municipal at IFEMA MADRID will host Blade Runner Live on May 2 at 8:00 PM and May 3 at 6:00 PM. The film will be screened in original version with Spanish subtitles (VOSE) on a large HD screen, while The Avex Ensemble performs Vangelis’s iconic score live in perfect synchronization. In Spain, the project is jointly promoted by the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, two of Catalonia’s leading cultural and musical institutions.
ABOUT BLADE RUNNER
Directed by Ridley Scott and released in 1982, the film is based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. The story is set in a dystopian future where replicants—bioengineered humanoids—are created to serve humans. Harrison Ford stars as Rick Deckard, a replicant hunter—or blade runner—who falls in love with the replicant Rachael (Sean Young) and confronts the human desires of a group of rebellious replicants. Alongside Vangelis’s unforgettable score, the film features moments etched in cinematic history, such as the existential monologue of Roy Batty (performed by the late Rutger Hauer), as well as its distinctive dystopian futuristic vision of Los Angeles in an alternative 2019 shaped by technological decay.
ABOUT THE EVENT
The Avex Ensemble is a UK-based group founded in 2019, specializing in live performances of electronic film scores. They have appeared in productions such as Blade Runner Live and The Terminator Live at iconic venues including the Royal Albert Hall and the Hammersmith Apollo in London, as well as Orchard Hall in Tokyo, among other major stages. All classically trained, its members have collaborated with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, and have also worked on West End productions and with artists such as Shakira, Coldplay and Liam Gallagher.
For this project, they are conducted by Pete Billington, who has collaborated with leading British and international artists including Rick Astley, Alison Moyet, Michael Ball, Paul Young and Boney M., as well as numerous West End productions and tours such as Thriller Live, The Bodyguard and Bat Out of Hell.
